South Korean companies developing ‘multi-legged walking defense robot’

According to South Korea’s ajudaily.com, two South Korean companies – Hyundai Rotem and Rainbow Robotics – are developing a ‘multi-legged walking defense robot for military counter-terrorism missions.’ The companies will reportedly ‘cooperate and exchange technology in defense robots that combine unmanned weapons systems and advanced robot technologies.’

In June 2021, Hyundai acquired the American robotics company Boston Dynamics, best known for its robot ‘dog’, ‘Spot’, which has been used in military exercises by the French army and by numerous police forces in the United States, including in Massachusetts, New York, and Florida.
