WB Group WARMATE loitering munitions

Overview:

The WARMATE is a loitering munition developed by the WB Group. It is propelled with an electric motor and is described as a ‘“self-contained” fully autonomous system that can be transported over land by special forces units or installed on vehicles’. The WB Group ‘markets the system as an alternative to anti-tank guided missiles equipped with laser-seeking, high explosive, and thermobaric warheads. Autonomy:

The WB Group describes the WARMATE as ‘a fully autonomous loitering munition system that allows for real-time airborne warfare’, and states that ‘the UAV is equipped with control modules that have the capacity for full automation of the majority of flight phases and supports the operator during targeting’ . While the WB Group says that ‘the operator has full control and bears full responsibility for switching to the “armed” function in order to execute a combat task’, it also states that ‘the automated videotracker allows for a precise target hit without the operator’s control even after the loss of communication.’ The WARMATE has swarm attack capability.
